Buffalo, NY

Well, we flew out of Memphis Thursday (June 21) at 6 am. We arrived in Buffalo around lunch time. Annie and Buppa (Josh's grandparents) picked us up at the airport. We went to eat at this little restaurant off Lake Erie, Hoak's. It was really good. I had heard a lot about this restaurant. Josh had shown me a picture once of him and his great-grandmother at this restaurant from when he was little. That night Josh's Aunt Amy, Uncle Mike, and cousin, Molly, came over for steaks.

This is Annie and Buppa's house.

Friday morning Josh and I went for a hike down to North Creek (a.k.a. the "crick"). It is so beautiful down there. Josh's Uncle Dan (from Michigan) came over that afternoon with his two girls, Camille and Olivia, and Amy's children, Erin and Molly. We played a game, flew kites, and ate hot dogs. That night we went over to Amy and Mike's house for pizza and wings. I tell you...I had always heard Buffalo pizza and wings were good, but you have no idea until you have it!! It was delicious.

Saturday we went to watch Buppa, Dan, Mike, Amy, Erin, and Molly finish Ride for Roswell. It was this huge benefit for cancer research. It was a beautiful day for the "race." I put this in quotes because it really isn't a race, just a ride. It was held on the University at Buffalo's campus, which is really nice. Anyway, I got really burnt that day (I am used to the south where you get hot and put on sunscreen...well, there it was about 70 with the wind blowing...there wasn't much getting hot, so therefore there was no sunscreen application).

Self portrait of me and Josh.

The family after everyone finished.

Saturday night we went to eat at Aunt Margie and Uncle Peaches' house. Aunt Margie is Annie's sister. And Uncle Peaches is Italian... his real name is Dominic. Josh has always bragged on his spaghetti and meatballs. And it was all he had made it out to be.

Sunday we went to Mass. All of Josh's dad's family is Catholic. This was a new experience for me. I have been to catholic weddings before, but never Mass. It was very nice. That afternoon we went to Niagara Falls.

To be continued...
