I can't believe time is going by so fast. Our little angel was five weeks old last Friday. I'm sorry for my little three week hiatus (you might as well get used to them though with a screaming infant in the picture).
Alyssa was officially diagnosed with Colic two weeks ago today. She woke up screaming her head off around 8 am and two hours later she was still screaming. Not know if something was wrong with her or not, I call the pediatrician's office. They worked us in a little later that morning. The doctor said she was very healthy, her weight gain was right on track (8 pounds 13 ounces...over a pound in a week!), and she didn't hear gas in her tummy. So, her conclusion: colic. She told me to get help during her cranky times and read "happiest baby on the block." This book is actually very beneficial! I have enjoyed it so far and I am getting a lot of great ideas to try with her. She did change her formula to something a little more gentle. It seems to have helped...of course, she still has a few outbursts just not as many or as severe.
In other news, we made our first trip to Columbus last week. Alyssa, Bear, and I packed up the Civic (which was PACKED) and headed south. We stopped at my grandmother's in New Albany on our way down and my granny's just outside New Albany on our way back. We had such a great time visiting with all the family. And, boy were we busy!! We traveled most of the day Monday, went to Starkville to see mom's co-workers Tuesday, I went to the spa Wednesday thanks to my wonderful mother, had lunch with Josh's grandmother and did a little shopping Thursday, had lunch with Josh's grandfather and aunt Friday, and drove back Saturday. Whew! It was one busy trip. And, no...we didn't just leave Josh in Marion. He was in Kentucky on a business trip Monday through Thursday and then gone to the Ole Miss/Alabama game Saturday. We sure did miss him though!!
Here are a few pictures from our week.
